Prague – When Žaneta from the Prague-East district came to the Czech Republic for elections to Canada. He has been working overseas for two and a half years, and is in charge of projects at a foreign company. She told ČTK that she was not indifferent to the possibility to vote important and that she was not indifferent to the country’s fate. Elections to the House began on Friday and will end this afternoon.
Žaneta had the opportunity to vote abroad, but from Vancouver on the west coast of Canada she would have to travel either across the entire west of the United States to Los Angeles in 2000, or on the east coast of Canada to more than 4,000 distant Ottawa or Toronto. Therefore, decide to vote in the Czech Republic, where it was not two and a half years due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions. It took 16 hours to defeat more than 8,000 planes. “I could vote for half the price in Ottawa, but that’s how I connected it with the fact that I looked home after a long time,” said Žaneta, who was vaccinated against covid-19 for travel.
She did not want to miss the parliamentary elections. “I grew up in the importance of voting. I have no other way to react in the Czech Republic. And even if I don’t live here, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to come back here and I don’t care. I think it’s important to vote.” said a woman with a permanent residence in Canada.
He proudly declares his Czech nationality abroad, but also remembers unpleasant moments. “It strikes me as terrible that somewhere almost 9,000 long ago I will read an article on the Internet that the prime minister of our small country has a cause. One is ashamed and it is not pleasant.” she admitted.
Hundreds to thousands of Czechs participated in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies at consulates abroad, from Russia through Germany, Great Britain to America. According to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 111 polling stations were opened outside the Czech Republic this year.
