Tennis: Rouen wants its big women’s tournament
The Métropole de Rouen (Seine-Maritime) will soon be organizing an international women’s tennis tournament in its Kindarena. Top 100 players are expected, the event should take place at the end of 2022.
Little by little, the project is gaining ground. The Rouen Normandy Metropolis has moved even closer to its project for a major international women’s tennis tournament. Its metropolitan council, meeting on Monday, September 27, voted for this deliberation, affirming the desire to have this great event for the end of 2022, between October and November of next year.
World Top 100 and $ 125,000
For this, the Metropolis collaborates with the organizers of the WTA, the international women’s circuit. The goal is to have some of all the best female players in the world, especially Top 100 references.
The Kindarena, used to major tennis events
Where this event could take place is at Kindarena. The hall has already hosted major tennis matches. Starting with the Rouen BNP-Paribas Open, renamed Capfinancs, where Benoit Paire and Jérémy Chardy in particular performed. In 2019, Kindarena hosted a Fed Cup semi-final and in 2017 a Davis Cup quarterfinal. Experience and attractiveness are the assets that the Metropolis generates for its ambition.
