Nationals, today Poland-San Marino: with Paulo Sousa Linetty he is the halfback
The grenade midfielder was decisive in the last tranche of qualifying matches for the World Cup, now he aims to repeat himself
Karol Linetty returns to the field with his Poland for qualifying for Qatar 2022 and will face San Marino at 20.45. The grenade midfielder has so far shown a quality gap between his performances with his national team (often positive) and those in the grenade (so far he hasn’t affected much). A disparity that can derive above all from the difficulties of adapting to the role of playmaker. With coach Paulo Sousa’s Poland, Linetty continues to be deployed in midfield, in a position that seems to suit him better and that has allowed him to carve out a leading role, scoring 2 goals in the 3 matches of the September break (against Albania and San Marine). In the grenade shirt, however, the performance was fluctuating, and in the derby his entry from the bench was colorless.
GROUP – After the opaque test against Juventus, Linetty will seek redemption. He will do so, with ample opportunity to start as a starter or possibly from the bench, challenging San Marino, in a match that will see his national team clearly favored. Winning is imperative. Poland is currently in third place in Group I with 10 points. Berisha’s Albania is second at 11, Hungary is fourth at 10. And if England flies in the lead with 16 points, to win second place you need continuity. For this reason, while waiting for the grenade derby against Berisha, Poland cannot be wrong.
