Dijon’s first contemporary art fair closes its doors this Sunday
The first edition of the “Art Fair Dijon”, the contemporary art fair, ends this Sunday evening at the Dijon exhibition center. Since Friday, this new cultural event in the capital of the Dukes has welcomed around thirty gallery owners from all over Europe. They exhibit the works, paintings, sculptures, of a hundred artists.
Belgium is the guest of honor at this show created by Jean-Marc Bassand, a Franche-Comté. A contemporary art fair that he wishes to perpetuate in Dijon. “There was no fair of this type in Dijon, I even think that the province misses it in general because this kind of meeting is all in the big capitals and the cities like Dijon need to have emblematic fairs on this theme. “
A merchant art fair can provoke vocations
Especially since Dijon already owns the Consortium, a Mecca for contemporary art since 1977. “There is still an impressive pool of artists of artists in this region” comments Jean-Marc Bassand. Besides “if there are very few art galleries in Dijon, I think that having a commercial art fair with galleries within it can generate vocations”.
Jean-Marc Bassand wants to make this meeting “unavoidable”, a fair that he hopes to see become “a reference in the middle”. He hopes to attract between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors over these three days. This contemporary art fair ends this Sunday. You can go from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Parc des Expositions et des Congrès. The entrance fee is 9 to 12 €. Please note that the health pass is compulsory.
