“Ninety-nine percent of I travel to Prague from Třebíč by bus. But it’s just because the trains don’t run. If there was one with one transfer, I would definitely prefer him. Just because it’s more convenient, more connections are good. Last year there was only one because of the corona, now it’s better again, but buses usually run only on the outskirts of Prague. Such a connection would be useful for me now, “said student Libor Šárka from Třebíč.
Thanks to the new lines, we will better connect more places in the Vysočina region with Prague. “People from Třebíč will get to Prague thanks to one transfer in Jihlava. Also, for example, from Havlíčkův Brod there will be other connections of passenger and express trains. We plan to manage several regional connections on the routes. Passengers will also save time, for example from Žďár nad Sázavou to Brno it will be thirteen minutes. However, we do not yet know how much it will cost, “explained Martin Hyský, Chairman of the Committee of the Vysočina Regional Council for Development Projects.
The minimum train speed will be 200 km / h due to the high-speed route between Prague and Kolín. “Trains will have at least one door on each side, which allows low-floor boarding of parents with carriages or an elderly passenger,” described Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček. Guides will be present on the trains at all times to arrange ticket sales.
At present, any carrier can apply for the contract. The winner of the competition can enter into a contract with the Ministry of Transport for fifteen years. “Choosing from competitive offers is advantageous for the state, regions and passengers. Thanks to the contracts we concluded thanks to the comparison of prices of several carriers, we saved over 300 million crowns. Private carriers have not yet acquired seven lines, Czech Railways remains providing most long-distance transport lines, “said Havlíček.
