Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Despite the ongoing corona pandemic, the Frankfurt airport operator Fraport is expecting a high number of passengers at the beginning of the autumn holidays in Hesse. According to a spokeswoman, up to 130,000 air travelers are expected on peak days. Therefore, there may be waiting times at the check-in and security checkpoint as well as when entering and leaving the country. In Hesse and also in the two following federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, the two-week autumn vacation begins on Friday.
Due to the many special corona regulations, Fraport recommended careful travel preparation and “keep all necessary documents to hand at all times”. According to the information, supposedly classic sun destinations in the Balearic and Canary Islands as well as in Greece, Portugal, Turkey and the Caribbean are particularly in demand. Before the corona pandemic, around 220,000 flight passengers were counted in Frankfurt every day during the autumn holidays.
