The reform on prison work tested in Muret
During questions to the government, in the Senate, the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, confirmed that the Muret prison will be part of the penitentiary establishments which are experimenting with the reform on prison work.
For a large number of specialists in the prison environment, work is an effective tool in the reintegration of convicts. Thus, the government wants to implement a reform of the framework for work in prisons, with a project of law “for confidence in the judicial institution”. Eric Dupond-Moretti, this reform notably provides for the creation of a “prison employment contract” which will make it possible to provide social rights “to working prisoners.
During the oral questioning session, the Minister of Justice to confirm to the Senator of Haute-Garonne, Brigitte Micouleau, who asked him the question, that the Muret detention center should indeed be part of the penal establishments which will experiment with this device. .

“I can confirm that Muret, which is a penitentiary establishment that we know well, you and I, will be retained for the better this experiment which has for but to avoid at best the recidivism and to favor the reintegration”, answered the guard of Seals in front of the Upper House.
Social rights and employee protection
Aiming to better supervise work in prison, this main interest is to allow reform within their penitentiary center to be able to open social rights and, thus, to better prepare their future social reintegration. Indeed, the latter will benefit in particular from rights to unemployment insurance and health insurance as soon as they are released from prison. But he can also benefit from many additional rights: affiliation to a supplementary pension scheme, compensation in the event of an industrial accident, occupational disease, disability or death, as well as rights to parental benefits.
In addition, the bill provides for better regulation of the length of working time and the provision of professional experience in a free environment to better prepare for the release of convicts.
