Real fall to Olympiakos, Milan remain undefeated in Euroleague
This is one of the surprises of the second day of Euroleague: Real Madrid and its French colony (Chateur, Heurtel, Poirier, Yabusele) were imposed by Olympiakos, in Greece (68-74). On the Madrid side, only Nigel Williams-Goss (16 points) and Walter Tavares (15 points) stood out while Chateur (2 points, -5 evaluation), Heurtel (7 points, 5 assists), Poirier (6 points, 6 rebounds) and Yabusele (7 points, 7 rebounds) were more discreet. Opposite, their compatriot Livio Jean-Charles did not do better (2 missed shots in two minutes).
In the other meetings of the evening, Ettore Messina’s Milan largely mastered the Basque club Vitoria, Spain (78-64), thanks to a good distribution of the mark (4 players at 10 points or more) and 12 winning baskets (out of 27 attempts, i.e. 44.4% success). The Italian club is, along with Barcelona, Olympiakos, Saint Petersburg, Monaco and Asvel, one of the six teams still unbeaten in the competition.
Anadolu Efes Istanbul falls at home
The reigning champion, Rodrigue Beaubois’ Anadolu Efes Istanbul (8 points) and Adrien Moerman (14 points), lost at home to CSKA Moscow in an offensive match (96-100). On the visitors’ side, Tornike Shengelia (23 points), Will Clyburn (18 points, 7 rebounds), Iffe Lundberg (17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Johannes Voigtmann (17 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists) have blackened the sheet of statistical. What to answer, above all, to the 32 points of Vasilije Micic, MVP who carried the Turks to the title last season. The Anadolu will appear in Lyon next Tuesday having lost their first two matches.
