Votes after the match (source: RTVS):
Štefan Tarkovič, coach of the Slovak Republic: “A great disappointment. It was a match that was supposed to move us into the game of advancement and we did not manage it. We put in a good performance among the sixteen, but we pushed in a well-organized way, we created a lot of chances, but we didn’t change them. Football is won and lost at sixteen, we didn’t make a mistake in one and lost. Schranz, Haraslín, shooting from the middle distance, the player can hardly blame anything, unfortunately, we did not have enough quality to turn the chances into a goal. The chances of advancing are minimal, it would be a miracle. ”
Valery Karpin, coach of Russia: “I am just happy with the result. We managed to achieve the victory we needed. The debutants went into a tough match and fulfilled what we expected from them. We have to play together for the next match. ”
Lukáš Haraslín, wing of the Slovak Republic: “Not only me, but we are all disappointed with the result. Today we played a quality match, we had more of the games, but we didn’t score what we needed. We didn’t deserve to lose. At my first chance I did what I could, the goalkeeper caught it famously. At the second I had a weaker penultimate touch, I missed it a bit and the ending was not so good anymore. We didn’t want to fall there today. We need to put our heads up, regenerate well and prepare as best we can for the tough match in Croatia. ”

Peter Pekarík, defender of the Slovak Republic: “We wanted to play a better result. We knew what we needed. We didn’t deserve to lose after this course. Game statistics in our favor, we had several great opportunities, all the more sorry. The opponent got on the horse with a leading goal, then completely closed his shot. We had three or four excellent chances, but we didn’t turn them. If the chance is alive, we will have to and we will go to the next matches to find out as well as here. ”
Ladislav Almási, forward of the Slovak Republic: “I went there to score a goal to dramatize the match. It doesn’t have to, it doesn’t have to. I’m sorry because we were a better team the whole match. The debut is nice, play in the most valuable jersey is beautiful. But the other eye is crying because the Russians were no better and we had to win. ”
Milan Škriniar, defender of the Slovak Republic: “I thought I went to the ground unnecessarily, but I didn’t know if a player was behind me. We failed communication at the goal there. We don’t even remember when we had so many chances in the match. We have to, we haven’t turned them. I look really at the promotion chances, we now have to gather all our strength for the next match in Croatia. ”
Ivan Schranz, forward of the Slovak Republic: “Marek Hamšík gave me the ball there, the defender hesitated, jumped his leg. I wanted to process it, I felt like I was cramped, I didn’t manage to handle it. Sometimes you create a lot of chances and the goal does not and does not fall. ”
