Paulo Guichard was arrested on Thursday on arrival in Portugal
O former BPP administrator Paulo Guichard, sentenced to nine years and six months for serious economic and financial crimes linked to the BPP, which resides in Brazil, was arrested on Thursday on arrival in Portugal, reports to SIC Notícias. It should also appear this Friday in a hearing at the Criminal Court of Lisbon.
According to the lawyer’s request addressed to the judges of the Lisbon Central Criminal Court, the defendant proposes to present and deliver his passport to the court and will take up residence in Porto.
“Given the huge social upheaval caused by the flight of defendant João Rendeiro (former president of the BPP) and the public suspicions that immediately feel about the risk of being the next defendant in this process to evade the action of the Court, it is the intention of the Defendant Paulo Guichard will move back to reside in Portugal “, mentions the application.
Paulo Guichard informed the court that he will not oppose the promotion advanced by the Public Ministry so that he is subject to the prohibition of leaving the country, with the delivery of his passport.
The former administrator was sentenced to nine years and six months for serious economic and financial crimes linked to the BPP, the sentence not having become final.
Paulo Guichard, Salvador Fezas Vital and Fernando Lima have publicly expressed their repudiation of what they consider to have been João Rendeiro’s flight abroad and his whereabouts uncertain, thus evading justice.
