The governor explained that the decision to impose restrictions in the region was made against the backdrop of the prevailing circumstances. “Such measures are solely in order to slow down the growth rate of the incidence and stimulate people to vaccinate, concluded Alikhanov.”
In the Kaliningrad region, a self-isolation regime has been introduced for unemployed citizens over 65 years of age. The presence of citizens without masks in public places is also prohibited, the activities of attractions have been suspended. From October 8, visiting cafes and restaurants is possible only if you have a QR code of vaccination or transferred COVID-19.
Earlier, the virologist of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health, Professor Alexander Butenko said that the cause of the new wave of COVID-19 in Russia is the spread of the Indian variant of the delta plus coronavirus infection. According to him, the rate of spread of the infection is largely due to the short incubation period characteristic of this variant of SARS-CoV-2.
On October 4, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, warned the Russians about the intense epidemiological season. He urged citizens not to take risks and declare that it is fundamentally important to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu in the fall.
