Do you live in Prague and take less than 100 thousand? You have room for a higher salary
Of the 65 monitored IT positions in Prague, the personnel agency Grafton Recruitment recorded a six-figure salary for the larger half, ie 100 thousand or more per month. In Brno, only a third of IT roles will reach this salary, in other regions there are rather exceptions.
“Although wages in the field of information technology grew last year, especially outside Prague, the capital still has a large lead in the wage setting, across job positions. With the boom of remote work that has proven itself during a period of pandemic constraints, it can easily happen that experts from the regions will try to attract employers from Prague, ” says Martin Malo, Director of Grafton Recruitment and GI Group. The only position that can equal in all 13 monitored regions is the C / C ++ developer.
A typical salary in IT starts in Prague at 50–60 thousand and ends at 90–110 thousand, depending on expertise, demand and experience. In Brno, it is slightly lower, in the range of 45-90 thousand.
“Thanks to the presence of a large number of IT employers, the IT labor market in Brno has lost ground in the issue of wages, just as in Prague it has torn away from the rest of the country,” comments on Malo and adds: “Thus, these cities stop making sense for newcomers in terms of wages. However, their attention may be focused on the regional city with technical universities, where the situation is not yet so tense. “
A quarter of a million or less than 30,000 a month
The IT director (CIO) earns the most in IT. In the capital, his salary ranges from 150 thousand to a quarter of a million a month, in Brno from 120 to 200 thousand crowns. The highest recorded wage in this position in other regions was 160 thousand per month.
On the other hand, salaries in IT are traditionally paid to first-level technical support specialists. They earn 35-50 thousand in Prague, and 30-40 thousand in the regions. These specialists receive the least wages in the Olomouc region, where their financial valuation falls below 30,000.

The threat of cyber attacks has sparked interest in security experts
Probably the worst companies are filling senior positions in the field of security, there is an increasing shortage of Java Developers. There are also more positions that combine technical knowledge and experience with soft skills, such as team skills, artificial communication or the ability to explain complex IT solutions to lay people.
“In connection with the growing threat of cyber attacks, there is a growing interest in security specialization. Their salaries start in Prague at 45,000 for consultants and analysts and end at up to 160,000 for secure infrastructure architects and 180,000 for IT security managers, “ lists Martin Malo.
In our opinion, the demand is also high in the case of machine learning engineers, who, thanks to the high interest in their services and the low number of applicants, can earn between 40-130 thousand, depending on the region. In Prague and in the Central Bohemian and South Moravian regions, companies often demand experts in cloud technologies. Consultants, administrators and cloud architects come to 50-160 thousand a month here.
Development and support of IT in business services
IT positions are also playing an increasingly important role in the field of business services, which have become an important part of the Czech labor market over the last few years. Central business services employ mainly qualified employees with good language skills. According to data from the ABSL industry association, IT experts make up a full 37% of all employees in this sector, which is 18 percentage points more than in 2019.
Here, too, the highest wages offered by the branch in Prague, Brno and Ostrava are, however, relatively balanced in this segment. For example, the IT manager of a business services center can earn 100–150 thousand a month in Prague, 80–120 thousand in Brno and 80–110 thousand in Ostrava. People in Helpdesk / IT Support positions have the lowest wages, earning 35–50 thousand in Prague, 30–45 thousand in Brno and 28–40 thousand in Ostrava.
Nevertheless, the business services sector not only offers positions in the field of IT support, but also intensively deals with the deployment of robotic automation and artificial intelligence, and expands the range of positions in IT research and development. For which position can candidates improve by up to 7,000 crowns if they speak insufficient foreign languages, which include German, Dutch, French and Scandinavian languages.
