In view of the massive shortage of staff in nursing homes, the former care platform of the Salzburg state government is to be revived as an advisory board. This is what the responsible LHstv says. Heinrich Schellhorn (Greens). He had approached the governor for a new start in order to attract more nurses.
It must now be checked whether the previous measures are sufficient to solve the current crisis, said Schellhorn.
Has it been hesitated for far too long?
If politics looked too long, ORF presenter Barbara Weisl asks the politician on the TV show “Salzburg heute” on Thursday evening. Schellhorn emphasized that up to 900 additional nurses would now be needed in Salzburg: “There are many retirements pending. We have already acted on the earlier platform. “
The politician refers to his colleagues from the ÖVP. LHstv. Christian Stöckl is responsible for training new skilled workers: “Today we have a record number of apprenticeships.” There are now twice as many students in training than ten years ago.
Land will pay with 37 hours a week
Schellhorn also wants to improve the working conditions for the nursing staff so that even more professionals don’t quit this job: “The 37-hour week comes next year in the collective agreement. I have agreed to reimburse the sponsoring associations and municipalities for the additional costs from state funds. “
