Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The Region exhibits Thomas Pesquet in Lyon
For the past few days, the favorite French astronaut, Thomas Pesquet, has been displayed in large format on the facades of the Hôtel de Région in Lyon. Because from Wednesday until November 2, an interactive exhibition, “The Earth from Space”, is in place in the hall of the headquarters of the Region to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fête de la science. A competition is launched for school children.
It is based on the photos of Thomas Pesquet, taken during his last trip to space. A project imagined by the regional association InfiniSciences (based in Clermont-Ferrand), taken over by Nicolas Laporte, astrophysicist, and whose goal is to “popularize” science to everyone. A partnership has been created with the National Center for Space Studies. 10 photos were selected, for their scientific interest, among the more than 20,000 taken by the astronaut. This is who captioned them, and you can hear his comments through the specially created application.
You can also discover photos of the region, the work of companies linked to the conquest of space and many models. There are even meteorites, including a Martian determined in space by Thomas Pesquet and a piece of which left for Mars. The Region hopes to soon have a wink from him; having taken the orders, he could not be live during the opening.
Exhibition open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. until November 2. Free guided tours upon registration. Hotel de Région, 1 Esplanade François-Mitterrand (Lyon 2nd).
