Weather: Snow line in Salzburg drops to 1,000 meters
“Cloudy, wet and very cool,” summarizes meteorologist Alexander Ohms from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) over the next few days. At least until Friday afternoon we can expect a lot of rain, the maximum should pause briefly today and tomorrow in the afternoon. The temperatures will not exceed eleven degrees in Flachgau and five degrees in Lungau.
Snowfall up to 1,400 meters above sea level
During the night and in the morning, the snow line drops to 1,400 meters above sea level. “The floor is still too warm, however, it won’t stay there much,” says Ohms. Only on the Dientner Sattel or on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, on which snow chains are already gilded, can a thin blanket of snow form.

Warmer weather on weekends
We can look forward to a slight improvement in the weather on Friday afternoon. The precipitation decreases and the sun comes out again. The temperatures climb to a maximum of 15 degrees on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. However, this trend is not continuing.
Hope for a golden autumn
Because the cool and wet weather only takes a short break at the weekend and returns on Monday. The snow line could even drop to 1,000 meters above sea level.
But we don’t have to come to terms with the dreary autumn weather yet. “The real Indian summer with constant, dry weather in mid-October is still missing,” the meteorologist knows. The chances for the “golden autumn” are very good from the middle of next week.
