Deployed by Orange, Vodafone and Facebook between the United States and Europe, passing through the Porge, this 6,800 km submarine cable, a veritable data highway, ends its course in Bruges. “All data exchanges between these two continents will go through this cable”, explains Régis Castagné, CEO of Equinix France. Data which will then be distributed throughout Europe.

About fifty positions on the site
The site, which cost Equinix 32 million euros, is expected to house around fifty jobs. But other jobs could emerge in the region, boosted by this very high speed synonymous with new attractiveness, especially in the telecoms or cloud sectors. According to the head of Equinix, companies like Orange, SNCF or even Khéops have already taken steps to set up in the data center.
