Monday, October 4, 2021, primary school students from 47 departments where the incidence rate was less than 50 cases of Covid per 100,000 inhabitants were able to remove their mask.
This was not the case in the schools of Haute-Garonne which still appears in a list of 54 departments where wearing a mask remains compulsory in primary schools.
A collective demands the end of the mask
For how long ?
Tuesday October 5, Parents united 31, the group of parents from Hautes-Garonne mobilized for the health and rights of children at school, asked “from today to lift the wearing of masks for our children”.
Speaking to the authorities, he explains:
Incidence rate in nails
“The incidence rate in Haute-Garonne has been below the threshold of 50 for more than five days. We expect, parents of students and committed groups, a rapid response from you to remove the wearing of masks for children ”.
Over seven rolling days, the incidence rate in Haute-Garonne is in fact 38 (it is 42.3 in the territory of Toulouse Métropole, editor’s note).
Wait for the decree
So why do the primary schoolchildren in our department still wear the mask?
Quite simply because the pace of administration is not that of the epidemic.
The prefecture of Haute-Garonne indeed recalls “that to enforce such a decision, a decree must be taken” and it must then appear in the Official Journal.
Defense Council Thursday
This is what happened on Thursday, September 30, before the date of October 4.
This Thursday, October 7 will take place a defense council. There may be a question of a territorial reduction of the health pass and no doubt that the list of departments concerned by the end of the wearing of masks in primary schools will be reassessed in the light of the evolution of the epidemic. .
Will it be good on Monday 11?
If this is the case, the pupils of the Haute-Garonne elementary school will soon lift the mask from October 11.
On Wednesday October 6, only the department of Aude recorded an incidence rate greater than 50 (67) in Occitanie.
