Less waiting. Buses from Českolipsko or Turnov will run to Prague more often
There will be connections from Liberec early in the morning and the last bus will leave Prague after midnight. The new lines will start running on December 12, when the timetables will be changed regularly.
According to the regional deputy for transport Jan Sviták, the advantage for passengers will be that interregional lines will be involved in both integrated transport systems, ie IDOL in the Liberec region and PID in the Central Bohemian region and Prague. “Passengers will be able to combine the travel documents of both systems, and thus take advantage of time or network tickets,” Sviták explained.
According to him, the backbone of the entire connection should be long-distance lines that connect various places in the Liberec Region with Prague. For example, lines from Českolipsko, Jablonec nad Nisou or Turnov will run to Prague for an hour. Selected connections will continue from Turnov towards Tanvald or Semily and further into the mountains to Harrachov or Mísečky. From Jablonec, part of the connections will continue towards Harrachov and Rokytnice nad Jizerou.
Changes will also occur on busy connections between Liberec and Mladá Boleslav. According to the organizers of public transport, the offers will be strengthened, but at the same time they will be led by other connections all the way to Prague. “The goal is not to compete with the express connections of commercial carriers, not even in terms of price. But in cooperation with the Central Bohemian Region, we want to efficiently connect the lines from Liberec to Mladá Boleslav and from Mnichovo Hradiště to Prague, “said Otto Pospíšil, CEO of KORID LK.
For passengers from Liberec, the marginal connections will be an interesting novelty before 4 am and after midnight from Prague. “Getting late from Prague to Liberec without a car is a problem. We used the last bus that leaves the Black Bridge at 11 p.m. But sometimes we don’t even catch up with him either, so the possibility to leave after midnight is great, “Jaroslav Podzimek told Deník in response to the announced changes.
According to Pospíšil, a partially low-floor bus will be used on other connections. The company thus responds to the comments it has received in the past. “We believe that the connection will also be used by people with limited mobility and orientation,” he added. On the connections to the Škoda Auto company in Mladé Boleslav, a comfortable 15-meter bus will continue to operate, which passengers are used to.
The offer will also be improved for passengers on regional routes, for example between Mnichový Hradiště and Turnov or Český Dub. “We are very pleased that this project has been under preparation since 2019 and has approached a successful goal. At the same time, we believe that we will enable people to travel better for work or to their relatives in the post-Cuvid period, “added Deputy Sviták.
