Irina Rîngaci is the first fighter from the Republic of Moldova to become a world champion. In the final of the 65 kg weight category, she defeated the Japanese Miwa Morikawa, writes olympic.md.
At the same time, the fighter Iulia Leorda became the world vice-champion. In the final of the 53 kg weight category, she lost to the Japanese Akari Fujinami, but defeated Assylzat Sagymbay (Kazakhstan), Samantha Leigh Stewarr (Canada) and Khrystyna Bereza (Ukraine) at the World Championships in Oslo.
In May, this year, the fighter Irina Rîngaci also won the European Championships for athletes under 23, which took place in Skopje, Northern Macedonia, and in April Rîngaci became European champion to fights among seniors.
Also in the same period, the fighter Iulia Leorda won the bronze medal at the world qualifying tournament in Sofia. In qualifying, she lost to the future finalist of the 53 kg category, the Russian Olga Khoroshavtseva. Then, in the requalifications, he defeated the German Annika Wendle and the Turkish Zeynep Yetgil. In the match for the bronze medal, Iulia Leorda won in front of the Venezuelan fighter, Angelica Arguello Villegas.
