Free travel for emergency doctors between Salzburg and Bavaria
Bavarian emergency doctors should continue to provide support in Salzburg after legal concerns. The ministry referred to an existing regulation – from 1937.
The rescue service between Salzburg and Bavaria has worked across borders for decades. According to the Red Cross, there are more than 300 missions each year in which the neighbors help out. In the summer, legal concerns suddenly emerged from Bavaria. As reported, the local statutory health insurance association informed the emergency doctors concerned that a written notification to the Austrian Medical Association was necessary for such operations. “In extreme cases, they don’t come any more,” warned State Rescue Commander Anton Holzer at the end of July.
