“Do not shift from a sore head”
Russia’s representative in the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, Denis Lozinsky, responded harshly to the accusations of the Ukrainian diplomat Vladimir Lakomov. “Do not shift from a sore head to a healthy one,” he demanded.
On October 5, a meeting of the First Committee took place. This subdivision of the UN General Assembly deals with international security and disarmament issues. The head of the international security department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Volodymyr Lokomov, said that because of Russia, the global “regime and regional arms control” were aggravated. In his opinion, Moscow is conducting destabilizing work in relation to independent Ukraine. There were also accusations of “the temporary occupation of Crimea, as well as parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.”
In response, Denis Lozinsky stated: the time of a committee member is again wasted on “absurd and unfounded accusations” by Ukraine. The diplomat warned his Ukrainian counterpart against such speculations.
The Russian representative to the UN recalled that military intervention in Moscow is only attributed. Not a single convincing proof that there are Russian soldiers in Donbass has been presented, since there have never been any on the territory of the DPR and LPR.
Kiev should stop blaming Russia and focus on internal problems. For example, establish a direct dialogue with Donetsk, adopt an amnesty law, and hold local elections.
“I would like to once again urge our Ukrainian colleagues not to shift the blame from a sore head to a healthy one,” RIA Novosti quotes the Russian diplomat.
