Condé Nast. Portugal is the best country in the world to visit and the best Iberian hotel – O Jornal Económico
Readers of Condé Nast magazine chose Portugal as the best country in the world to visit. With a total score of 94.1 points (a maximum of 100), Portugal was first in a list that sums up to 20 countries.
Portugal was ahead of countries like Japan, Greece, Iceland or Switzerland. With a minimum difference of 0.06 points, a New Zealand ranks second in the list of countries chosen by readers of the American magazine and 0.28 points for the third country on the list, Japan.
However, Portugal does not appear only on this list. The hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal, located in Monsaraz, was chosen by readers of Condé Nast, when hotels on the Iberian Peninsula occur.
The Alentejo hotel was founded in 1820, having celebrated 200 years last year, and is located on a 780-hectare estate where visitors can explore the surroundings but also practice activities, horseback riding, wine tasting or even choose spa treatments .
The hotel in Monsaraz allows booking of stays in rooms or in their own houses. For readers of Condé Nast, the hotel located in the countryside has a rating of 99.33 points, at a distance of 0.67 points from the maximum.
O The Yeatman Hotel, in the city of Porto, occupies the sixth position for the best hotels in the Iberian Peninsula, with a score of 98.36 points, online, 0.97 points from the first place. The Savoy Palace, on the island of Madeira, occupies the eighth position with 98.27 points, while the Hotel Infante Sagres, in Porto, is in the 11th place with 97.19 points, the Belmond Reid’s Palace (Funchal) occupies the 12th place with 96.9 points.
The Tivoli Palácio de Seteais Sintra Hotel is in 13th place with a score of 96.8, located in the same region that gives it its name. AlmaLusa Baixa / Chiado is in 15th position with 95.92 points, while Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon is in 16th with a total of 95.38 points.
Portugal as a country is on the list, with several hotel establishments highlighted by the North American magazine. So what about Portuguese cities? Condé Nast does too. The city of Porto is in eighth place in the list of the best big cities. “Porto, sometimes called Oporto, is a destination known to wine connoisseurs, but there is much more to this city by the sea than its sweet Port Wine”. Condé Nast notes that the traditional and the modern meet in the “most creative city in Portugal”
In terms of spa, Portugal has two none of the top 30 in the world for Condé Nast. AN Quinta da Comporta – Boutique Wellness Resort, at Carvalhal, came in 14th place, with a total score of 98.14 points, while Vila Vita Parc, in Alporchinhos, was in 19th place with 96.52 points.
In the European islands, Madeira was in fourth place, collecting 94.38 points by the readers of the American magazine, ahead of islands such as Crete and Paros in Greece or Majorca in Spain. The Azores totaled 92.35 points, having settled in 12th place by readers of Condé Nast, ahead of Sicily, Sardinia and Capri in Italy and Santorini in Greece.
The distinctions reflect the tourist travel experience of more than 800,000 readers, and encompass hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, trains, car rental companies, airlines, airports and cruises.
