Toulouse. The Bascala cultivates laughter and memories
You who are from the Center Region, how did you discover Bascala?
After having worked in the event management of the City of Carcassonne, I spent 7 years in Toulouse and in particular at the Conservatory, I have been following the Bascala programming since I arrived in the South-West because it is a very nice tool, which has a varied and renowned programming. So I was all the more keen to come by discovering the world of events by telling myself that it was a tool that could help develop business seminars, trade fairs because of its location in the heart of ‘a leisure center so the possibilities are numerous. This will allow us as much to develop the budget for the artistic part and to be able to continue to have good quality programming.
Humor is very important in your room …
Yes, it is the very identity of Bascala which means “Burst of laughter” so it is an identity that we pamper and which will remain a strong axis of our programming. I am also looking forward to meeting Anne Roumanoff (Saturday February 19) and on another register Guillaume Meurice (Friday March 25) and Jean-Luc Lemoine (Saturday February 22). But also Michel Drucker (Saturday April 9) and Gérard Holtz (Saturday March 26) who will bring together different audiences from TV and sport. And then, we will host two plays this year in the comic register as well: “An almost perfect stay” with Katia Tchenko and “Panic at the ministry” with Philippe Chevalier and Julie Arnold.
Does music occupy the same place in your programming?
Yes for all styles and all ages. We start from Sara’h (Friday April 15) who is rather a hit in the 12-15 age group to Isabelle Aubret (Saturday November 6) or Michèle Torr (Sunday January 30) who are in an age group a little more advanced. And then the Neko Light Orchestra, the regional members of the stage whose universe I love and who have been organizing the Echos & Merveilles festival here for ten years, so it’s a pleasure to welcome them again (Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November ). As you can see, the Bascala is open to all audiences and we would like to welcome more young audiences next year.
In December and January, you offer a more offbeat sequence of shows …
Yes, very different audiences can come together there too to hear Chanson Plus Bifluorée (Saturday December 4) who will sing the arts of the table, see contemporary circus with Les Acrostiches (Thursday December 16), get boarded by Les Hypnotistes (Saturday January 15) and Les Comédies musicales (Friday January 21) which are part of the collective universe, it speaks to everyone!
The Bruguières room explores the themes of humor, song and unifying shows. Perspectives and programming scrutinized with the new director Marie Leininger.
