The section speed measurement will soon start working on the main route from Prague to Benešov. Measures cars and motorcycles
A few months ago, cameras were added on the main route from Prague to Benešov, which will monitor the speed of passing cars over a long section. They will work just like similar cameras in the city. If the driver exceeds the speed in the measured section, he will be automatically fined.
Road number 3 to Benešov is straight, wide, wide and in some places has more lanes. This is one of the reasons why the willingness of drivers to maintain speed is very low. That is why it was decided that transit cameras will be installed here.
And so it happened, even though the construction was extended. However, not through the fault of the supplier, but through the fault of the vandals. During the construction of the system, they damage the equipment that the cameras hold, cut the rods and spray mounting foam into their bowels. “There was damage to the preparation that was carried out there, ie damage to the guards and basic construction portals. So we had to have everything fixed, “ he told the magazine iDnes.cz Deputy Mayor of Benešov Roman Tichovský.
The Central Bohemian police have the first Škoda Superb with police stickers and radar. Soon there will be more such cars with the police
However, the cameras have been installed for some time and are in trial operation. Offenses, ie speeding, are already recorded, but fines for them cannot yet be handed out. The city is still waiting for another necessary permit and the addition of traffic signs. However, this should be fine-tuned within days, and then the cameras could go into sharp mode. “Since the beginning of September alone, radars have detected over eight thousand speeding cases,” specify for iDnes.cz Beneš Police Spokeswoman Barbora Schneeweissová.
However, the camera stands themselves look different than in Prague or other cities. They have classic cameras against the direction of travel so that they take pictures of the car from the front, including the license plate and the driver’s face, but also in the direction of travel, so that they can also take pictures of motorcyclists. Even those on their way from Prague to Benešov or back will soon have to be more careful.
According to Benešov website the cameras are automatically on the road I / 3, from the bridge behind the turn to Poříčí nad Sázavou to the former rest Tužinka. All three lanes should measure. The measurement will only be sectional.
According to Deputy Mayor Benešov, a fine of around one thousand crowns should be given for exceeding the speed, which can be solved as a misdemeanor. In order to add to the number of offenses reported in September, the cost of building this speed measuring camera system would pay off in about a week. Its construction cost 1.7 million crowns without VAT.
