Russia’s population may decline by 12 million by 2036. Such a forecast was given by the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Sklifosovsky Institute of Clinical Medicine Alexander Strizhakov, reports RIA News…
According to the academician, the Russians will be depopulated (a steady decline in the population – approx. “Lenta.ru”). According to optimistic forecasts, in 2036 the population of Russia will be 150 million, which is only four million more than in 2021.
“According to pessimistic forecasts, the population of our country will decrease by 12 million people,” Strizhakov said.
The academician is sure that the population decline with the reproductive health of citizens. In this regard, it is necessary to reduce the number of pathologists among newborns in Russia, approved by Strizhakov. The large number of disabled children is of concern.
The professor also announced that the coronavirus pandemic poses a powerful challenge to reduce population.
Earlier, there was a significant acceleration in natural population decline in 2020. On average in Russia, it has grown 2.2 times compared to 2019 – from 317.2 thousand to 702 thousand people. In some regions, this indicator was estimated several times higher.
