Maybe you can get an old firefighter in the Chimney in a new coat. We’ll see what it could look like
Representatives of the local town hall do not want to lose the dominant Chimney. “Do not use another municipal building for meeting citizens, organizing events and holding various groups for young people or seniors. We decided for its reconstruction so that we would not have to close it and we organized the historically first architectural competition, “said the chimney mayor Milada Blatná.
The project documentation was prepared by the architects of schwerpunkt architects, who won the competition. “The goal was to leave the Old Firefighter, but to increase its capacity. In place of the original garages, a new three-storey extension with a green roof is being built, where there will be club rooms, a kitchen and a utility room. The entire ground floor with two halls with large windows and a bar will be leveled to one height level and there will be a barrier-free entrance for people in wheelchairs, ”says architect Filip Hermann. According to him, the house will function as a whole in the event of large events.
The adjacent surroundings of the buildings will also be revitalized. It will be transformed into a pedestrian zone with various paving, sitting stairs, shading tarpaulin, two parking spaces, trees and a flower bed for better water management.
City Hall representatives have ready project documentation and are now waiting for a building permit. The whole reconstruction will cost forty million crowns. “This amount is roughly the annual budget of our city district, so we are asking for financial support from the representative of the city of Brno and at the same time we are verifying subsidy possibilities,” said Blatná. The mayor believes that the Brno councilors will support this project, because last year it was included in their list of planned investment plans.
The reconstruction of the buildings is planned for the autumn of next year and will last about a year.
