Young people cry out for alarm
What can a hummingbird do when thousands of trees are blazing
This night of environmental law was punctuated by interventions by students of the Limosin high school in Limoges.
In theatrical form, the high school students dressed a alarming report on the state of our planet, leading an indictment on our actions insufficient to achieve the objective of halving of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
I am convinced that this subject is essential. We are the generation that will make it possible to fix mistakes, to make progress on reducing CO2 pollution.
Young people are worried, vigilant and aware of what is at stake, more than adults. It is clear that the process of getting involved, giving of your time for the environment will come this night from the right to protect but surely acts as a trigger for these students.
The planet is warming up, environmental law can protect us
the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Environmental, Development and Town Planning Law (CRIDEAU) was created in Limoges in 1969. This training from the University of Limoges recognized in France and abroad brings together four teachers and more than one student center.
Where is the environmental law?
“Internationally, climate change is highly publicized but other things are happening. In particular research conducted by Michel Prieur to pay promote an idea of a legal indicator of the environment, a very important idea which is starting to emerge on the international scene “, analysis Jessica Makowiak, head of CRIDEAU in Limoges
“In France, since the economic and financial crisis of 2008, there has been a deregulation, relaxation of environmental rules. A certain regression of environmental law accentuated by the health crisis. It is paradoxical because the Covid crisis must teach us the major interactions between man and his natural environment, the way in which he has a negative influence on his environment “, adds Jessica Makowiak
Students to the rescue
Six CRIDEAU Master II students are ready for a role play during this law night. A case study around a fictitious road bypass project. The voices of the defenders of nature, residents, the company in charge of the works, the mayor of the municipality were expressed. Useful exercise complexity of reality and the need to have a good grasp of environmental law.
I do not have not on one side the environment, on the other side money. It is much more complex than that. Often, when we talk about environmental considerations, we hear “you want to cut us off from everything, to question what we are doing”. In fact, in environmental law, it is necessary try to deconstruct everything and rebuild everything taking into account the interests of each and everyone
The evening ended with a debate in the presence of the public prosecutor of Limoges, the public rapporteur at the administrative tribunal, a lawyer and the director of the DREAM New Aquitaine. An exciting and abundant night, if he needed it, that the environmental law can prevent natural disasters, save lives, protect what already exists …
