‘Klimt. The Secession and Italy ‘on display in Rome
An exhibition in the heart of the capital retraces the work of the great Austrian artist and his relationship with the Bel Paese.
D.to October 27, 2021 The Museum of Rome in Palazzo Braschi will host the exhibition Klimt. The Secession and Italy, an exhibition event that marks the return of the Austrian artist to Italy with some of his masterpieces from Belvedere Museum in Vienna, from the Klimt Foundation and from public and private collections come there Neue Galerie Graz.
The exhibition retraces thefor life and the artistic production of Klimt, underlining the role of co-founder of the Viennese Secession e investigating his relationship with Italy, destination of his travels and place of some of his exhibition successes.
There are about 200 works on display, including paintings, drawings, vintage posters and sculptures by Klimt and the artists of his circle.
In addition to iconic works such as the very famous Judith I, lady in white, Friends I (The Sisters) And Amalie Zuckerkandl you can also admire quite exceptional loans such as The bride Foundation of Klimt e Portrait of a Lady, stolen from the Ricci Oddi Gallery in Piacenza in 1997 and fortunately recovered in 2019. Klimt. The Secession and Italy is an exhibition promoted by Roma culture, Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, co-produced by mugwort who also takes care of the organization with Zètema Culture Project, in collaboration with The Belvedere Museum and in cooperation with Klimt Foundation.
The exhibition is curated by Franz Smola, curator of the Belvedere, Maria Vittoria Marini Clarelli, Capitoline Superintendent of Cultural Heritage e Sandra Tretter, Deputy Director of the Klimt Foundation in Vienna.
