In addition to the urgent need to build a national stadium, Moldova also has infrastructure problems, says FMF President Leonid Oleinicenco. According to him, in Chisinau there are not enough accommodation places for footballers, and the fans do not have a proper transport to reach us in the country.

Leonid OLEINICENCO, President of FMF:“Last year, we held negotiations, together with our colleagues from the Romanian Football Federation, regarding the hosting of the final stage of the European Championship at youth level.”
However, this did not happen, and the lack of appropriate infrastructure was the main reason. In addition to the national stadium, Moldova must have a reserve, with a capacity of at least 20 thousand seats. The “Zimbru” arena, the largest in our country, can receive only half of the required number of spectators.
Leonid OLEINICENCO, President of FMF:“Unfortunately,” Bison “is not possible to rebuild. At the same time, access to the stadium leaves much to be desired, with a single area for entry and verification of spectators. ”
Also, the footballers and the technical staff of the teams do not have enough accommodation. And the access roads in our country would have created great difficulties for the fans coming from abroad.
Leonid OLEINICENCO, President of FMF:“The Republic of Moldova does not have the necessary number of hotels, with a minimum capacity of 150 rooms. ”
Since independence, Moldova has not hosted any major football events. The biggest team that came to play in our country was selected from France. In 2019, the “Gallic roosters” won 4 to 1 against the tricolors. The match was played on the “Zimbru” stadium, and over 10,000 fans were present in the stands.
