How will the day of the National Commemoration unfold?
In memory of the struggle waged by the Luxembourg people during the occupation from 1940 to 1945, five ceremonies are scheduled for this Sunday. Here is the order and details.

Ceremony at the Luxembourg Solidarity National Monument (Kanounenhiwwel)
Sunday at 10:15 am, the Grand Duke Henri will lay a wreath in front of the national monument of Luxembourg Solidarity at Kanounenhiwwel, then will rekindle the flame of remembrance. He will be welcomed at the foot of the monument by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, François Bausch, the Mayor of the City from Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer, the Army Chief of Staff, General Steve Thull, and the Director General of the Grand Ducal Police, Philippe Schrantz.
Ceremony at the monument in memory of the victims of the Shoah (Kaddish)
At 10:45 a.m., Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, accompanied by the president of the Israelite Consistory, Albert Aflalo, will unveil an explanatory panel of the Kaddish monument right next to it. Then one after another he gives a speech
A wreath laying will be made in front of the Kaddish. They will be submitted by Fernand Etgen, Xavier Bettel, Lydie Polfer and Albert Aflalo. After this commemorative action, the Chief Rabbi of Luxembourg, Alain Nacache, will say a prayer.
Flower deposit in front of the Memorial (Gëlle Fra)
At the end of the ceremony at the monument in memory of the victims of the Shoah, wreaths of flowers will be placed at 11:15 a.m. in front of the Memorial monument (Place de la Constitution) by Fernand Etgen, Xavier Bettel, François Bausch and Lydie Polfer, in the presence of General Steve Thull and Philippe Schrantz.
Speeches will be given by Paca Rimbau-Hernández, president of the Association of Friends of International Brigades – Luxembourg (ABI-L) as well as by Xavier Bettel. Xavier Bettel and Paca Rimbau-Hernández will then unveil an inscription on the base of the Gëlle Fra in memory of the volunteer fighters of the Spanish Civil War.
Ceremony at the Deportation Memorial in Luxembourg-Hollerich
At 11:45 a.m., Fernand Etgen, Xavier Bettel, Lydie Polfer and the president of the Forced Enlisted Federation (FEDEF), Erny Lamborelle will lay wreaths of flowers in front of the Deportation Memorial. Thereafter, Erny Lamborelle and Xavier Bettel will deliver speeches.
Ceremony at the National Monument to the Resistance and Deportation (Hinzerter Kräiz)
At 12:15 p.m. Xavier Bettel gives a speech at the National Monument to the Resistance and Deportation (Hinzerter Kräiz). The president of the consistory of the Protestant Church of Luxembourg, Emmanuelle Bauer, the Chief Rabbi of Luxembourg, Alain Nacache, and the Vicar General Patrick Muller, then proceed to the blessing of the tomb at the monument. Then flower wreaths will be placed by Fernand Etgen, Xavier Bettel and Lydie Polfer.
