Geneva watch fair is to take place in the spring in Palexpo halls
The Geneva watch salon “Watches and Wonders” should take place next spring, as planned, digitally as well as in the Palexpo halls.
the essentials in brief
- As planned, the Geneva watch fair is to open in the Palexpo halls in spring.
- The events also take place digitally at the same time.
On March 30, 2022, the time has come again: “Watches and Wonders” will open its doors in the Palexpo halls. For seven days, including until April 5, almost 40 watch and jewelry brands will present their fine products and innovations to a specialist audience on site, according to the plans.
The organizer Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) announced on Tuesday. The last two editions took place on the Internet.
Latest editions only digital
Due to the corona pandemic, the last two trade fairs must first be postponed and then relocated to the Internet. The “Watches and Wonders” should, however, continue to be present on the Internet in the future, as they say. It will be a “hybrid and flexible” dress in which the fair will present itself in the future.
The watch brands of the French luxury goods group LVMH, for example, will celebrate their first appearance in the Geneva exhibition halls, having participated in the online edition of the fair after last spring. They include Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith. She used to present her watches in Basel at Baselworld. Big brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe and Chopard are also making the move from Basel to Geneva.
Everything with rank and name
In the past it was mainly the “Maisons” of the Richemont group who set the tone in Geneva. Above all the flagship brand Cartier, but also IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin. In the upcoming edition, the Richemont jewelry store Van Cleef and Arpels will also return to Geneva after a short period of absence.
The “Baselworld” watch fair will also be relaunched in a fresh look, as the trade fair organizer MCH announced in the summer. Along with Rolex and the LVMH stores, the most important exhibitors, the Swatch Group, in particular, turned their backs on the fair some time ago. Since then, the future of Baselworld has hung by a thread.
According to “Baselworld” boss Michel Loris-Melikoff, the fair is intended to offer watch and jewelry brands a platform for other exhibitors from the luxury industry as well. And in Basel, too, people are increasingly relying on digital appearances and content.
