a crowdfunding campaign launched to take the Demos Orchestra to the Philharmonie de Paris
The Aïda association and the Orchester national du Capitole are launching a crowdfunding campaign from October 5 to the end of December 2021. The goal: to allow the children of the Orchester Démos to perform at the Philharmonie de Paris and at the grain hall of Toulouse.
Formed three years ago, the Demos Orchestra, which allows young people aged 7 to 12 from priority areas of city policy, to discover an instrument and classical music, is starting its final year. In order to close its cycle, a concert is planned at the Philharmonie de Paris in June 2022. The Aïda association, one of the supporters of the project in Toulouse, also wants children to perform at home, at the Halle aux Grains. In order to be able to cover all these costs estimated at 30,000 euros, crowdfunding was launched with the Orchester national du Capitole.
From October 5 to the end of December 2021, it is possible to make a donation in line or by mail. On this launch day, 60 euros were recovered.
What is the Demos project?
the Demos project, (Device for musical and orchestral education with a social vocation) is a national project, subsidized by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities (National Agency for Territorial Cohesion), the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Overseas Territories and the Family Allowance Funds. It is aimed at young people aged 7 to 12 who live in areas relevant to city policy or in areas of rural revitalization.
In Haute-Garonne, the project was implemented three years ago. It is therefore the first promotion which will end its year in 2022. One hundred and five children aged 7 to 12 divided into seven groups from five priority areas of city policy are concerned. They come from Toulouse, Blagnac, Cugnaux, Muret and Terres du Lauragais.
A “very positive” three-year cycle
Participating in the Demos project is a real commitment for children. Everyone discovers an instrument and keeps it for three years. The practice is intensive: 4 hours of workshops per week, an orchestral rehearsal every six weeks and a public concert at the end of the year. A complete experience “very positive”, indicates the Aïda association. “It’s super rewarding and satisfying to see these children being comfortable with instruments that sometimes they did not even know. Many of them want to continue the practice after the cycle and many others want to register. to the next ones because they saw their friends doing it or even the brother and the sister “, continues the association.
Crowdfunding will close by the end of December 2021.
