Student entrepreneur Jardo Stammeshaus Most Innovative Student in the Netherlands
VU student science, business & innovation Jardo Stammeshaus is the most innovative student in the Netherlands with his start-up Jardo Liion Power, with which he is working on a sustainable battery charger.
With his start-up Jardo Liion Power, Stammeshaus and his fellow student and good friend Tobias Slieker are developing a device that charges a battery in a sustainable way, the way Liion Power’s battery life extender. Last Thursday he became the winner of the competition ‘The Innovative Student of the Netherlands’, organized annually by the popular science magazine Scavenger hunt and the magazine for money lovers Quote.
Stammeshaus will receive a cash prize of 5,000 euros and a trip to tech paradise Silicon Valley to further develop his idea. The prize was presented by Marjan Minnesma, chairman of Urgenda.
Sustainable serial entrepreneur
Li-ion batteries are in everything: in mobile phones, laptops, e-bikes, you name it. The problem with these batteries is that they slowly deteriorate over time and need to be replaced over time. Lithium is becoming a scarce raw material and is extracted in an unsustainable manner. Jardo Liion Power is working on a solution to make li-ion batteries last longer.
Earlier this year, an injury was extensively interviewed by Ad Valvas. Then he said that Jardo Liion Power probably won’t be his last start-up. “My goal goal is to series sustainable entrepreneur to set up sustainable businesses.”
