By the end of the first half of 2021, just over 15 million CCTV cameras were installed in public places in the Russian Federation – their number increased by 10.1% over the year. This is reported by the newspaper “News»With reference to the agency Telecom Daily.

The publication notes that Russia is second only to South Korea in terms of the growth rate of CCTV cameras, where the number of devices increased by 30% over the year.

At the same time, in terms of the absolute scale of surveillance cameras, Russia ranks third in the world after China and the United States, where 200 million and 50 million of such devices are installed.

The agency’s general director Denis Kuskov noted that by the end of 2021, the gap between Russia and South Korea is likely to narrow. The base of CCTV cameras in the Russian Federation may grow by 16%.

Last year, Russia ranked fifth in terms of camera base growth.

It was previously known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia examines the possibility of equipping cars of the State Traffic Inspectorate with a light-signal beam with the functions of video surveillance and photo-video recording.
