Restaurateurs in the municipality of Florence: extend outdoor tables
And break down the Tari, consumption in the restaurant still down
Rome, 4 Oct. (askanews) – The restaurant sector is still in crisis, especially in Florence. The summer months are eati differently in the Tuscan capital compared to the coast, where it was sold out. The first eight months of 2021 were not enough to recover last year’s losses. According to the report of the Florence Chamber of Commerce on purchases and expenses in Tuscany through digital payments, in the week between 20-26 September and compared to 2019, there is always a double-digit income, equal to -12.5% , on consumption in restaurants.
“Overall, in the first eight months of 2021 the turnover of the sector fell by 38% in the Florentine area compared to the pre-Covid period and in September in Florence there was no recovery compared to August. International tourism is missing ”, says Raffaele Madeo, national president of Tni Italia, who today opened the first edition of the provincial union convention.
At Tni Day, taking place at the Ruffino di Poggio Casciano estate, Bagno a Ripoli, restaurateurs are taking stock of the situation of Florentine companies in the sector which sees over 5,200 active in the entire metropolitan city, of which 2,820 in the municipality of Florence. Also present at the convention Giorgia Levantini, the new Florentine coordinator of Tni Italia.
“The Municipality of Florence – explains the coordinator – has announced that it is working on a plan for the extension of the concession for outdoor tables. We ask for a comparison on this because the rumors that circulate, namely that most of the tables in the center will be eliminated, worry us. There is still no recovery. There is only one semi-departure. It is therefore essential to renew the free public land for catering activities, as well as to give urgent support to those who have never been able to use these outdoor spaces. In addition, for 2022 we ask the Municipality to reduce the Tari tax, while we make a request to the Tuscany Region to reintroduce the supply chain bonus, intended for those catering companies that buy raw materials made in Tuscany. Only in this way, in fact, can the economy and the entire Horeca supply chain start up again ”.
