New ambassadors in Ukraine, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Mexico appointed – Civil.ge

Georgia has appointed new ambassadors to Ukraine, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Mexico, the Foreign Ministry announced late on 3 October.

Giorgi Zakarashvili was appointed Ambassador to Ukraine. He had served as head of the Foreign Ministry’s political department since 2019, and before that as an envoy to the section for Georgian interests at the Swiss embassy in Moscow. He has also previously served at the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine 2012-2016 and held several positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advance.

Zurab Beridze was appointed Ambassador to Poland. He had been head of the Secretariat of the Georgian Foreign Minister since 2018. He has previously served as Georgia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria (2014-2018), as well as to Romania and Moldova (2004-2008). Beridze holds a doctorate in historical sciences and has worked in the diplomatic service since 1991.

David Solomonia was appointed Ambassador to the Netherlands. Since 2017, Solomonia had served as ambassador to Brazil. He has held various positions in the diplomatic service since 1995.

Irakli Khutsurauli was appointed ambassador to Sweden. He has worked in the diplomatic service since 2003 and held positions at Georgia’s embassies in Italy and Switzerland.

Zaza Gabunia, former Georgian dream MP, was appointed ambassador to Mexico.
