The galley to obtain social housing continues in the Capital of Gaul and the wait is always longer.
The City is trying to provide an answer. During the last municipal council, Raphael Michaud (deputy mayor in charge of town planning, housing and housing) thus announced five categories of public which will become priorities:
- Families affected by a rehousing operation as part of urban renewal projects
- Families living in unworthy accommodation recognized
- Families needing to change social housing because iThey live in an apartment that has become too big for them
- Victims of domestic violence
- The municipal officers
For this last category, 700 agents are waiting. Former housing for teachers will also be renovated to become social housing and a part will be reserved for agents.
Who takes care of social housing?
Social housing can be managed by several entities: the State, local authorities (region, department, agglomeration, etc.) or even professional private services in the sector.
In all cases, to apply for social housing, a common platform exists: https://www.demande-logement-social.gouv.fr/index.
In all, in 2019, 24,942 families were waiting for social housing. According to Progress, the figure even rose to 30,000 in 2020.
Lots of requests, few rotations, very few new
The problem remains the same: a lot of requests are made and very few rotations are carried out in the accommodation. In addition, the construction of new buildings has been hampered by the Covid-19.
Raphaël Michaud has promised delivery, in Lyon, of 1,200 social housing units by the end of 2021.
In the meantime, here is the status of requests, district by district, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Housing:
Fr green, the number of social housing, inhabited or free; Fr Red, the number of pending and pending requests yellow, the number of units allocated.
