The construction work in the Na Knížecí metro vestibule at the Anděl line B station lasted eleven months. The modernized hall opened last week.
“Reconstruction is significant, among other things, because we tried to return the metro to Anna Švarc, which we tried to return to the lobby in its original form, as when it opened. We thought about the lighting, the colors and the division of the space to make it spacious and airy. At the head of it, we also restored the glass showcase, where exhibitions and other art will be on display, “commented Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport.
The reconstruction for 259 million crowns met with positive responses. However, opinions have emerged in internet discussions, and the repaired vestibule has one big blemish on beauty.
One of the discussants does not like the fact that the transport company did not remove the sculpture from the hall, referring to the establishment of the station. “I’d just take that Moscow down,” said one comment. However, there were also those who stood up for the inscription. “I’m glad the sign stayed there. It’s a piece of our history. An explanatory table could be added for today’s generation, “added another topic of discussion (the history of the station name can be found in the box – editor’s note).
The excavation of the Anděl metro station began in 1980 and was opened under the name Moskevská on November 2, 1985. It was given its current name on February 22, 1990. The station is located near the blasted house U Zlatého anděla, which was named after him more than thirty years ago.
