Final modifications of the šalin depot in Pisárky: creation of a transfer node at the arena

The project of the transport company was approved by the city councilors at the last meeting. “The construction of return loops and track repairs in the depot is our long-term plan, which builds on the previous stages of modernization of the depot. Use the whole project to finish. In the earlier stages, we built a hall for daily treatment and cleaning and widened the track for parking the trams, “said the carrier’s spokeswoman Hana Tomaštíková.

Work on the construction of the return tram loop will begin in May and end as a result of next year. Currently, the project is going to the building authority for approval. The costs will climb to another four hundred million crowns.

The construction will hit passengers during the summer holidays in less than two years. “We are counting on the exclusion of trams, because we will connect the new line to the existing one,” explained Tomaštíková.

Due to the check-in of passengers heading to the multifunctional halls, other constructions and modifications will be part of the plan. The tram loop offered more capacity. “The project includes the withdrawal of the exit track towards Mendlovo náměstí and other boarding and following edges in the opposite direction. The proposed construction ensures the main pedestrian access to the planned multifunctional hall, from the interchange of the Lipová tram, trolleybus and bus stop, “outlined the city councilor for territorial development Filip Chvátal.

Construction of returnable tram loops.
Capacity building of the loop due to the check-in of passengers heading to the multifunctional hall.
Construction of a tram bridge with tracks and overhead lines on it.
Establishment of the Lipová stop interchange for trolleybuses, trams and buses.
Construction of the main pedestrian access to the arena and to the western part of the exhibition grounds, as well as to the planned cable car.
Addition of an exit track from the loops towards Mendlovo náměstí and other boarding and following edges in the opposite direction.

The plan also envisages the construction of access to the planned Lipová station, from which less a cable car to the university campus in Bohunice.

Workers at the depot will build a tram bridge with a line towards Mendel Square and an overhead line on it. The works will also include landscaping and relocation of utilities.

The construction of a transport terminal will increase the accessibility of the site. “It will be the entrance hall to the new hall, the tram will directly open the entrance to the busy swimming pool Riviera and through the cable car people can easily get to the campus in Bohunice and the Vinařská dormitory,” said Chvátal.

Along with the arena, the new Lipová junction will also make the western part of the exhibition grounds accessible to pedestrians. “We are responding to this possibility by preparing the construction of a new gate number nine, which can not only pass cars, but also include a basic service for pedestrians, such as a cash register or access control,” says Jaroslav Bílek, spokesman for Brno Trade Fairs.
