De Lijn is installing extra trams during 10 Miles, pre-metro station… (Antwerp)
On Sunday, October 10, thousands of sports enthusiasts will once again compete in the Antwerp 10 Miles. Transport company De Lijn will install 22 extra trams that day. In addition, some lines will not be able to follow their normal lines.
The extra trams will be used on lines 3, 5 and 9, good for about 7,000 places on top of the regular offer. De Lijn advises travelers to leave early if they want to get busy in the city and also at the stops and in the trams.
On that day, the Groenplaats pre-metro station will not be served between 3.30 pm and 8 pm. De Lijn wants to avoid large crowds in the preliminary stages. After all, each platform has only one exit. The trams do stop at Meir station.
During the outflow of the 10 Miles between 2.30 pm and 7 pm, Halewijn and Van Eeden on the Left Bank will always close in one direction. At the Van Eeden stop, the tram only runs in the direction of the Right Bank, at Halewijn only in the direction of the Left Bank.
Finally, the routes of some buses and trams will also be adjusted. This mainly concerns lines that cross the route of the Antwerp 10 Miles, in particular tram 1, 4, 7 and 11 and bus lines 180, 181, 182, 17 and 36.
