It was good to play at home this weekend for the National 3 teams. In the Norman derby between CS Bayeux and Caen Nord Basket, it was the Bayeusains who won at home, 77-52. At the same time, the ASPTT dominated the red lantern of the hen, the US Marly-le-Roi, by the score of 83 to 70. As for the Union Caen Hérouville, traveling to Chartres, they were narrowly inclined, 89-80.
CS Bayeux – Caen Nord Basket: 77-52 (14-18 / 24-11 / 19-15 / 20-8)
For the third day of the championship, this match featured the Norman neighbors. Bayeux came out largely victorious against a team from Caen Nord in difficulty in the organization of this start of the season.
Caen Nord started the match correctly but was quickly caught by Bayeux, who despite a complicated start to the match and the injury of Bogdan Jovanovic, managed to recover to lead during the remainder of the match. Robin Lecoutey (21 pts) was able to lead his team to victory.
On the side of Caen Nord, two players have chosen (Mpondo with 19 pts and Herbert, 17). They also played the entire match, which brought a little serenity and experience to their team, which is currently looking for these qualities.
Gilles Bailuet (CSB): “The result is there but it is a victory that remains through the throat. The start of the match was difficult. We changed our defense, which allowed us to come back and pass in front at half-time. From there, we managed to take the lead and win the game. But the way is not really there. Add to that the injury of Bogdan Jovanovic (fractured cheekbone) at the start of the match as well as some puzzling referees decisions and it quickly becomes a victory with a little bitter taste. It was still a game we had to take and we did it so I’m happy with it. The next match against Le Mans St Pavin will also be everything, a victory we will manage to really climb to the top of the table ”.
Sandra Dijon (CNB): “We knew that this match would be difficult, the derbies are not easy to overcome. We had a good start to the match with a reduced team. I recognize the group’s fighting spirit. The team is aging and the young people need time to reach the required level of N3. The season will be long with defeats and victories but each match must allow us to move forward together.
We must remain disciplined and respect the instructions so that everyone finds their place in a collective still under construction. I believe in my players and try to bring my experience as a player and continue with me like them as a coach. Individual performance is not the most important. We win and we lose as a team ”.

C’Chartres Basket 2 – Union Caen Hérouville Basket: 89-80 (17-16 / 22-21 / 29-19 / 21-24)
As part of the third day of Nationale 3, Union Caen Hérouville Basket traveled to C’Chartres Basket, this Saturday, October 2, 2021. The first half was a real mano to mano between the two teams. David Onillon’s players will have been able to count on a well-inspired Alexandre Nardini, author of his 11 points during the first act, to be only two lengths behind the Chartrains.
Upon returning from the locker room, the teammates of a very successful Ugo Doumbia (26 points in total) take the lead in the third quarter, won 29-19 by Chartres Basket. Despite Mateo Landy’s 18 points, the Caennais failed to return to the game.
Note, the very good contribution of the Norman bench, author of 31 points. Bodes well for the rest of the season.
David Onillon (UCHB): “A rather balanced first quarter where we will find interesting offensive solutions. Only downside to resolve: the rebound. Despite the insistence on the latter. The second quarter time hurts us and we return to the locker room with 20 offensive rebounds conceded and yet we are only led by two points. The second half is similar to the first and the players focus on the attack and the whistle. Opposite a team is very aggressive on the rebounds. We lack the energy deployed to get back to the score at the end of the match and we finish at 9 lengths with no less than 32 offensive rebounds conceded ”.
