The midwives of the maternity ward of the L’Union clinic in Saint-Jean, near Toulouse, filed an indefinite strike notice this Sunday, October 3. The service is temporarily closed and future mothers who are due to give birth there directed towards the 15th in order to have another maternity hospital.
This is part of a broader social movement for the profession but this Sunday, October 3, the midwives of the maternity ward of the L’Union clinic in Saint-Jean, near Toulouse, filed an indefinite strike notice. Their demands: the recognition of a status and a salary increase.
Consequence: the service has been closed since midday and temporarily, according to the regional health agency (ARS) of Occitanie. In a press release dated today, the agency indicates that the maternity unit is no longer able to accommodate parturients. “In the event of an emergency, future mothers in Haute-Garonne and neighboring departments are therefore advised not to go spontaneously to this establishment and to contact the 15th which will direct them to the maternity service of another establishment where they will be supported“, is it in particular explained in this press release.
