Rome, the Appia Run returns after 889 days, but it could be the last
Back after two and a half years of accumulated back there‘Appia Run’ on this Sunday 3 October. Departure at 9.00 from the Stadio delle Caracalla’s thermal baths for one of the most prestigious road races of the entire running panorama of Rome.
Organized by ACSI with the collaboration of ACSI Italia Atletica and ACSI Campidoglio Palatino, with the patronage of the Municipality of Rome, Department of Sport, the Lazio Region, CONI and Fidal, the ROMA APPIA RUN is the only race in the world to be held on 5 different pavements: asphalt, sampietrino, lava paving, dirt and finally the track of the Nando Martellini Stadium at the Terme di Caracalla.
Works on the motorway: the external entrance to the Fiano Romano station closed for one night
«It was a great running party with the return to competitions of many passionate runners, president of ACSI Italia Atletica and organizer of the event -. Unfortunately, on the sidelines of such a beautiful day of sport we are forced to make a more evaluation and for this preaching that we shared at the latest edition of Appia Run. The unbearable costs to which the Municipality of Rome subjects us, which perhaps mistakes sport for a mere commercial activity, will not allow us to continue. Evidently the local institutions not the approximately 105,000 athletes from all over Italy and also from the rest of the world, who took part in our competition during these 22 editions, a source of pride and public interest for our city. And all this, frankly, leaves us perplexed. We make an appeal to the new administrators that the Romans will choose in these weeks. If you love sport, change these absurd rules that do not apply anywhere in Italy and Europe. If events like these are a problem for the city, let us be told frankly and we will remove the disturbance ».

And in fact the registrations were already sold out several days ago.
