RB Leipzig is probably fishing for Red Bull Salzburg success manager Christoph Freund
After coach Jesse Marsch, RB Leipzig should work around a key player from Red Bull Salzburg: Sports director Christoph Freund apparently moved into the focus of Saxony.
Moving from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig is a “tradition”. In almost every transfer window, key players move from the Austrian series champions to Leipzig. Most recently, successful coach Jesse Marsch also changed banks.
Now sports director Christoph Freund could also switch sides – after Markus Krösche’s departure from Eintracht Frankfurt, the position in Leipzig is still vacant.
“Even if the pressure from outside increases, we do not lapse into actionism and at short notice a press conference and present someone, but we are looking for someone who understands this philosophy, internalizes it and develops it further,” said CEO Oliver Mintzlaff at last sky.
Mintzlaff continues: “I can say that we are in very specific discussions and that we can then close this gap sometime between January and June.” Loud sky-Expert Lothar Matthäus is friend’s number one candidate.
Freund, who guided top talents like Erling Haaland, Patson Daka or Karim Adeyemi to Salzburg, is still under contract with the Bulls until summer 2023.
