“The abandonments no longer have a season and an increasing number of dogs, cats and NACs (new pets, editor’s note) are abandoned by their masters”, notes Anne-Sophie Bigot, co-founder of the brewery Icebreaker brewery, installed at Montrabé (Haute Garonne), near Toulouse.
To sensitize the population in a fun way, it launched a beer called “Puppy Slushie”, specially designed to “generate discussions” around the phenomenon of animal abandonment.
Dogs on the cans
“Some people may still have a bad image of dogs to be adopted in shelters: aggressiveness, very heavy personal history, mistreatment… while there is a great diversity of profiles, and everyone can find a companion who will suit them. Adopting rather than buying, that is also where we think we are leading people with this operation, ”explains the founder of the brewery specializing in unusual beers.
The originality of this can be found on the 44 cl can containing the beverage. Indeed, there are portraits of several residents of the refuge “Act for animals”, based at Castelginest (Haute-Garonne) and associated with this action.
A beer of solidarity
To be consumed in moderation, this beer which has dogged title to 9 °. “It gives pride of place to hops with a round, fruity and slightly bitter profile with notes of exotic fruits and citrus,” says Ice Breaker Brewing.
Produced in a limited edition (only 2,000 copies), it is sold individually at € 5.90. Note that with each beer sold on the Online Store, 50 centimes will be donated to the “Agir pour les Animaux” refuge.
The money collected will be used to buy food and toys for the residents of the refuge.
