RBC: military spending in Russia in 2022 will return to the pre-pandemic level

MOSCOW, October 3 – RIA Novosti. Russia will spend more than 3.5 trillion rubles on defense next year – thus this area will take second place in the federal budget. RBK…

As noted in the explanatory budget policy for 2022-2024, there will still be social policy: it is planned to spend more than 5.8 trillion on it.

The economy, in turn, was allocated 3.46 trillion, and in the past two years this industry has received more funds than the defense industry. According to the portal “Electronic Budget”, this year the Ministry of Finance has allocated 3.6 trillion rubles in economic expenditures, while 3.4 trillion for defense.

Before the pandemic, spending on the economy exceeded the military only twice: in 2014, when oil prices collapsed, and in 2009, when Russia’s GDP fell by 7.8 percent.

At the end of September, the government submitted to the lower house of parliament a bill “On the federal budget for 2022 and for the planning period of 2023 and 2024”, revising the parameters and, accordingly, the size of surpluses and deficits.
