Toulouse. Great success for the Repair Tour in Saint-Cyprien
The Repair Tour de France stopped for the first time in Toulouse on Wednesday, inside Saint-Cyprien square. The Repair Tour de France which, as its name suggests, stops in several cities in France is a solidarity repair workshop whose objective is to encourage and help citizens to repair objects rather than throwing them away for replace with new. Many people from Toulouse attended the meeting organized by Ademe Occitanie and the Spareka company, specializing in repair services for individuals. “The main obstacle to repair is its cost, or 90% of breakdowns can be easily repaired with basic tools”, assures Franck Chatelain, communications manager at Ademe Occitanie. At midday, nearly fifty people have already been welcomed to the stand where coffee makers, food processors, hedge trimmers, cooking hobs, trying to find a second life. Carmela is held with her faulty coffee maker “I couldn’t open it” she laments. The Spareka company, which is committed to the fight against planned obsolescence and waste of household appliances, also offers many free digital tools to learn how to repair yourself.
