Last act of the outgoing Regency: the decree approving the referendum
The last act of the outgoing Venturini-Nicolini Regency was the issuance of decree number 170 of 30 September 2021, with which the Heads of State acknowledged the results of the scrutiny relating to the propositive referendum on voluntary termination of pregnancy. With the regency decree the result of last Sunday’s referendum is therefore formalized, which saw 11,119 voters vote Yes to the question that decriminalizes abortion and legalizes the voluntary termination of pregnancy. To implement the propositive referendum question, it will be necessary to approve a law on the subject. The regency decree, in fact, opens the six-month deadline within which the State Congress is required to draft the bill aimed at regulating, according to the principles and directive criteria approved by the electoral body, the matter that was the subject of the referendum. .
