Maltese Professor Presents Innovative Findings in COVID-19’s Largest Research in Children
Maltese professor Keith Sacco, who specializes in immunology in the United States, has come to an innovative conclusion regarding the way COVID-19 manifests itself in children.
He has spent the last 18 months conducting the largest COVID-19 study ever conducted in children, from Europe to the Middle East and North and South America. The research aims to find a more effective treatment for children with CVID-19.
“We took a lot of samples from different hospitals around the world and we were able to understand the mechanism why COVID-19 manifests itself in children in this way,” he said.
He said in an interview with TVM that Sacco and his team concluded that children infected with COVID-19 tend to suffer from inflammation instead of the usual symptoms.
Even though the virus generally does not develop severe symptoms in children, there are cases where they experience inflammation.
After working with the COVID-19 authority and the doctor Anthony Fauci, Sacco is the first Maltese specialist in the field. His team demonstrated for the first time how effective medicine works in this condition.
The research findings were published in a prestigious medical journal and noted by the international scientific community.
