Fehervar sums up the first defeat of the season in Salzburg – Hockey-News.info
EC Red Bull Salzburg inflicted their first defeat of the season in today’s Saturday game. The Mozartstadt team celebrated a 3-0 home win.
It was the second game within 24 hours for both EC Red Bull Salzburg and Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The Red Bulls were successful at HC Pustertal on Friday with 4: 3 OT, Fehérvár didn’t give the Dornbirn Bulldogs a chance (6: 3). Both teams started the game cautiously. There were hardly any great opportunities to be seen in the first third. There were also no penalties in the first 20 minutes of the game.
In the middle third it also took a while before 1850 fans died in the Eisrena Salzburg for the first time in the 29th minute of the game. After Vincent Lo Verde won the puck on the board, the German Danjo Leonhardt took the lead for the Red Bulls. For the 19-year-old striker, it was the first goal for the professional team from Salzburg. In the second third, captain Thomas Raffl was able to increase it to 2-0 (36th). It was the third goal of the season for the 36-year-old veteran.
In the final section, too, little came from the guests from Fehérvár. When they found opportunities, RBS goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen was always there. The 26-year-old Finn made his debut for the Red Bulls and promptly celebrated a shutout. For the final point, Ali Wukovits ensures the new entry 25 seconds before the end of the game with an empty net hit. In the table, Fehérvár will continue to be the leader of the table after the sixth matchday (15 points). With four points behind, HCB Südtirol Alperia (11 points) and EC Red Bull Salzburg (11 points) are the first pursuers.
